S ponosom najavljujem radionicu pejzažne fotografije koju ću s kolegom Filipom Lučinom održati u prekrasnom krajoliku zaštićenog prirodnog rezervata Zeleni vir pokraj Skrada u Gorskom kotaru. Ovaj dragulj prirode nudi pregršt fotografskih motiva na kojima ćemo polaznicima pokazati kako fotografirati slapove, kaskade na potoku, šumu, jezero i bezbroj raznih detalja uz izvor Zeleni vir, špilju Muževa hiša te u kanjonu Vražji prolaz.

It is Spring, a bright yellow rapeseed flowers are in full bloom. On blue sky of early afternoon cumulus clouds are slowly rising. I look at them and imagine to climb their slopes, stopping at their peaks. What would that look and what photographs could there be taken
. Let this image opens the way to your dreams like she opened it for me in mine.

Zeleni Vir ( Green Well ) is known resort in a protected landscape in close proximity of Skrad, Croatia. I recently stayed there with friend Filip Lucin, preparing photographic workshop. Spring is in full swing, green swells on all sides, the forest floor is filled with bear bow and tiny flowers and from the stream can be heard loud noise of water. It is impossible to remain indifferent to this beauty. Although I took a lot of photos, this one in the best way reflects the beauty of nature and feelings that beauty is aroused in me. Shortly before the power plant at the foot of the slope, below the source Green Vir is a waterfall that falls into a small lake surrounded by trees and steep cliffs. Access to the falls is very easy, but one must be careful on the slippery rocks in its immediate vicinity. When we, after visiting the other waterfall and lunch arrived at the lake, the sun had passed the zenith and began to illuminate the west side so part of the lake at the foot of the waterfall coming out of the shadows and take on a beautiful emerald-green color. I wanted to show a few plants in the foreground, a waterfall and its surroundings. I decided that a shooting panorama is the best solution, so I took a dozen vertical photos of which I have chosen four. Panorama is stitched in MS ICE. I hope you enjoy the end result, this photo.

After a long winter with plenty of snow and few rainy days afterward, spring has finally began. Lots of snow and rain soaked the land and filed river and streams bed. Some fields turned into lakes and boring, flat surfaces was converted into interesting areas full of photographic motifs. On such field in Podravina area, about 30km south-east from Cakovec, I recently noticed an interesting lonely tree. I waited for favorable weather conditions to make some photographs of that tree in desired manner. It turns out that in addition, near that tree were few more of them, alone or in small groups, which are interesting as photographic motifs. Although I did not plan to stay longer on that field, I spent the whole afternoon there. Landscapes photos from this site can be purchased on Fine Art America.

I took this photo a few dozen meters from the photo of the previous post. I saw this pier on arrival to the lake shore, and I had in mind a couple of pictures that would like to capture here. But I continued to walk along the coast in search of motives. The light was wonderful and although I could not directly capture the sunset, because my position has not allowed it, I enjoyed the beautiful colors in which the setting sun colored the sky on the opposite side. Clouds are come across in the ideal time to take on a fiery red color of the sunset. Very often, when photographing landscapes, time passes faster than we would like. The light is changing from moment to moment, and it is necessary to quickly adapt to the situation. Thus, the formation of clouds and light in this photograph lasted only a few minutes. When I became aware of the potential of scene that developed before me, I hurried toward the small pier because it fit perfectly into the vision of what kind of photo I wanted to capture. I have set up a tripod, compose the shot that I want, adjust the filter and pressed the trigger, happy that I arrived on time. I made a few more shots with different settings and orientation. Night had descended and in this place I escorted the last rays of light that day with my camera. I am satisfied with the captured images as I once again confirmed that for good landscape photography does not have to go to places hundreds of miles away, but that it may be found all around us, it just needs to be seen and experienced.
This and my other landscape photos can be purchased on Fine Art America.

… was the first thing my good friend said seeing this photo. Searching for the perfect place to photograph the beautiful red cloud I found these rocks in the shallows of the lake. Recent rains and rapidly melting large amounts of snow caused a rise in water levels, and the rocks were flooded. Either way, they was interesting foreground and contrast of sky and a wonderful reflection on the surface of the lake. Either way, the rocks are very good foreground and represented a good contrast to the sky and a wonderful reflection on the surface of the lake. Using a polarizer I “opened” the surface of the water, and I was able to view at the rocks scattered on the bottom. Graduated neutral density filter I darkened the brightest part of the sky, and thus gave the correct exposure of the entire image. I liked the contrast between the colorful, playful, happy sky and monotonous, uniform, serious rock. Cheerful and optimistic colors of the sky opposite the dark and mournful tones on bottom. As usual in life, first glance may fool the superficial observer. Colourful and attractive exterior can make us somewhat misleading, therefore we need to look more closely and scratch beneath the surface In order to see things as they really are.

For long time I have wished some fog above the river, to take beautiful landscape photo witch will exude peace, but not to be gloomy as sometimes foggy photos look. I wish to take stimulating and cheerful photo but when I came on river I had the impression that my wishes will not accomplish. The recent spate has modified some parts of the area along the river; even part of the access road along the coast was taken with the force of water. I walked along the gravel waterside and imagined images that I want to capture. As the fog is getting thicker, it became clear to me that I will probably return home with photographs intended for conversion to black and white. Since along the river I did not stumbled on an anything interesting, I redirected my search to the nearby backwaters in order to find some nice scene to capture. I encountered a sizable quantity of sand that was inflicted by spate, which covered parts of the shore, completely changing her look. I have been careful not to leave too many footprints in the sand because I do not want to spoil the shot. Beautiful sand textures, pleasantly rough, followed by a perfectly flat and calm water surface, reflecting the dark bare trees on the other coast. A thin veil of mist rising over the mirror, wrapped around trees and disappearing into the dense layers of fog and low clouds. The rays of the morning sun lit up for a moment this melancholy scene and revived her. Sandy shore flashed with golden glow, ice crystals sparkled like jewels and bare trees enveloped in fog seemed more attractive too. A piece of blue sky nice fit with the golden glow of the coast and the river bottom which was visible through the surface of the water, and gave the whole scene a dignified, almost sublime look.

I like to welcome a new day somewhere along the water. For this morning I chose a location at the lake near Prelog, small city in my county. Along the northern coast, on the lake is a small camping village raised by local people that bustles with life from mid-spring to early fall. In late fall and winter here come just fishermen and characters like me Continue reading »
